What our guests say
We stayed here for our honeymoon in August, and have already booked to go back next year! Such a beautiful place, cabin is just perfect, lovely and clean, with everything you need. The family are welcoming and friendly, can't do enough for you. Feeding the deer was amazing. The bird feeder was a beautiful touch, we sat for hours just watching the birds come and go. Highly recommend.
9 months agoWe have just loved our week in the forest amongst the deer. We came during a heat wave and were delighted with the shady pitch we had. We have an 18 month old who loved camping here where there are no vehicles near tents, lots of inter-linking paths to explore and deer in the next field who come down regularly for a feed. ||The owners are lovely and friendly and helpful. There was no drinking water on site but this is being rectified next week which will really improve the experience. ||We had the site largely to ourselves which was a real treat, but I can imagine the 2 toilets and 1 shower will be in seriously high demand at peak times. ||What a magical forest hideaway, we shall definitely be back!
7 years agoSarah and her sons hosted us at the woodpecker cabin, greenfields forest. Nestled in the thick of the woods… Complete privacy with absolute PEACE & Tranquility. Sarah was such a friendly host, truly lovely lady!! Her son’s are both very helpful and offered great communication when booking. RECOMMEND BOOKING DIRECT - as best for both hosts and guests :) Massive highlight of the stay is getting to feed their deers on site (Every day around 4pm). Local pub, Hunters Moon, Owned by a lovely couple who happened to come from the same town we came from (reading, Berks!) but they left 17 years ago to setup home down here And Open, a quaint quirky lovely country pub. The pub owners are friends with Sarah and hubby. ((Pub is three minute drive by car or 10 minute walk)) There is plenty of woodland to explore.. if you don’t want to leave at all!! A great kitchen where you can cook for yourself and not even need to leave - Sainsburys is Around 12 minutes, drive away. Recommend for “cosy night in”, Netflix in tele and treats & Prosecco chilling the fridge! If you do want to leave… Recommend a 45 minute drive to Durdle door and Lulworth. Indescribably, Beautiful place to visit!!!!!!!! The colours of the sea, and the coastline, just WOW. Woodpecker cabin is perfect for couples… design wise, space wise - it’s LIKE A LITTLE CHOCOLATE OF LOVELINESS!! You wake up to a view of the robins and other beautiful little birds feeding from directly opposite the window :) stunning. What an honour. So much greenery around our cabin … and animals … you cannot help but FEEL PEACEFUL, and like you’ve “escaped the world” ((It’s ideal for us - There is no phone signal at all round here! Meaning you have NO WORRIES about “real life” whilst you’re in this sanctuary)) Fyi they do have wifi - If/when you need it ;) of course. Black book in cabin, has lots of information- We found everything we needed to know was in there!! Sarah responds fast to messages. Support is right on your doorstep - if you need it. CANT RECOMMEND ENOUGH. Sarah And her family have clearly put a lot of love and effort into these two cabins - YOU FEEL IT :) the atmosphere is ZEN, the quality is high, and the added value of “goodies on arrival” is very sweet of them!
1 year agoReally good campsite. There are 10 pitches and they are nicely spaced out in the woodland. You have to leave your car in the car park and walk to your pitches, but as long as you arrive before 6pm the owners - Foo and Tim, will give you a lift with all your stuff on the quad, to your pitch. ||||THE CAMPSITE||Set in Woodland mostly grass with a lot of tall trees which nicely keeps the breeze out, and the rain away (we just stayed in those thunderstorms). There is lots of nature, there are geese, deer, horses. You can have campfires here which is great, then on a clear night you get a good view of the stars||||FACILITIES||Back near the house there is one toilet, one shower and a washing up area. They could really do with another toilet and shower. You have to pay 20p for a minute in the shower, or £1.00 for 6 mins. There is no mains water but you can buy bottled water on site||||NEARBY||There is a pub up the road - The Hunters Moon. Come out of the campsite turn right and it is 5 mins walk (no footpath watch out for cars doing 60mph). Sherborne is 10 mins drive up the road which is a nice little town with good shops and pubs. Dorchester is about 20 mins the other way or Weymouth a further 15 mins down the road. There is nothing other than the pub in walking distance from the campsite. ||||PRICES||We paid £7.50 per person per night which I think is reasonable. It is a bit annoying having to pay for the shower - not because of the price, but you must remember to take coins with you. ||||CONCLUSION||Best campsite we have stayed at for years. The four of us are in agreement we will return one year. I definitely recommend this campsite
